Babasiga Lions ready for BOG

July 13, 2017 4:21 pm

The Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants football tournament returns to Labasa’s Subrail Park after a lapse of 15 years.

The hosts have had a good record at home winning the tournament once and finishing as runners-up in the other in the two times it has been held at the venue.

The Babasiga Lions will also be looking at ending a 20-year-old drought as the last time they won the tournament was in 1997.

Coach Gurjit Singh says his team has prepared well and it’s on the players now to deliver.

“We work on the whole team and it’s important to build up the game from the back and we have been playing few games against Dreketi and I can see some improvements in our scoring where we started scoring goal now.”

In the first match, Nadi plays Rakiraki at 1pm after which Dreketi faces Lautoka at 3pm, Rewa meets Ba at 5pm and Labasa takes on Suva at 7.30pm.
