The crowning of a new Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants champion did not come without a true fight.
Ba emerged victorious after a gruelling two hours of football – the game resulting in a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Labasa.
The Men in Black last won the BOG title in 1997 and team captain Jone Vesikula says the win today will be a memorable one.
“I’m so glad winning after a long time and just like to dedicate the win to all our families and all the boys and our president. During the penalty shootout out we just had to calm down and not hesitate when under pressure from Labasa. We did that and hats off to the boys and to those who didn’t get to play that were on the reserve bench.”
Ba coach, Yogendra Dutt believes the BOG win will take the Men In Black a long way this season.
He adds the key to their win today was composure from each player.
Both teams were at a deadlock after 90 minutes and were at a stalemate in extra time.
Meanwhile, Lautoka finished in third place after beating Nadi 1-nil while Nasinu became the premier champs after beating Taveuni 2-1.
