The Australian side knows the importance of the Oceania 7s as they aim to qualify for next year’s Olympics through this tournament.

Australia will need to have a best finish this weekend to qualify directly for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Coach Tim Walsh says they will not underestimate any team and will treat every game like a final.

Same situation we had to qualify for Rio through Oceania. There’s a few guys that have returned from that team, their experience would be pretty handy. Everybody knows the pressure of what’s at stake, the team that handles that the best will reap the ultimate reward.”

Australia is pooled with Tonga, Nauru, American Samoa and Vanuatu in the Oceania 7s.
