This year’s Olympic Day Fun Run will be a little shorter in distance.

Chief Executive of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee Loraine Mar says that this year’s run will be at a distance of 6 KM which is a bit shorter than normal.

“We normally have an 8K Run but we hope that the shortened distance will bring out a lot of families and children to participate.”

The participants are expected to take their experiences gained from the activities and fun run back to their communities.

Meanwhile, Program Manager for Save the Children Fiji, Shairana Ali has called upon the members of the public to participate on the day and since it’s an open event, they are expecting a lot of participation.

“So this planned Olympic day run is a great activity and a great preparation for the Suva Marathon which is a week after the day run and we believe with the telecasting and publicity we hope to see some new and budding runners join on the day.”

Children from the project community of the Save the Children Fund will be taking part in the fun run and other activities that are planned for the day.

The Fun Run will be held on the 29th of this month and starts from the Damodar City Centre, it will come through the Aquatic Centre, down to Queen Elizabeth Drive and to Vuya Road.
