Team Fiji Athletics Sectional Manager Joseph Rodan Junior says that he has full faith in Petero Veitaqomaki’s potential in the Pacific Games this year.

There has been a lot of talk on the performance of Veitaqomaki after he lost in the 1500 and 3000 meters at the Coca Cola Games to Yeshnil Karan of Tavua College.

Rodan says there should not be any questions about his qualification and he has full confidence that the young athlete will live up to expectations.

He says that he is the number one 800 metres runner in the region.

“The critics are coming from the coca cola games, people need to understand that Petero Veitagomaki is not a 1500 meter runner or a 3000 meter runner. It was basically a strategy by the schools to try and get more medals. Had he been put in his two events he definitely would have won Gold medals for Marist in the 4 and the 100 meters. He is right number 1 in the region and he’s qualified in the A Grade. So there is no doubt.”

The Pacific Games will be held in Samoa from the 7th to 20th of next month.
