Team Fiji athletes have been reminded to adhere to the team Codes of Conduct and not accept any sideline sponsorship while at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

Serious concerns were raised by Team Fiji Chef de Mission Patrick Bower who spoke of past experiences where athletes have ambushed the team’s uniform.

Bower says the rules have all been circulated and there will be no spoon-feeding.

All athletes are required to take responsibility.

“The whole aim of the game whilst they have made a mistake, you can use that mistakes to build to their character and make them more responsible if something is blatantly done then it should not be tolerated when they know the rules and they blatantly go against it. That means we could lose sponsorships and then what is it doing for the rest of the teams. It’s a very selfish act.”

Athletes were also reminded of their hygiene while at the Games.

“Boils is a hygiene issue, you need to be clean, you need to bath, we sweat we play in sand we play in soil, we shave, we wax, all the dirt get stuck on our skin and it accumulates there and there comes boil, so the number of squats you do should be equal to the number of eggs you’ll have for breakfast, so two baths every day it’s a must, morning, afternoon and wash your feet’s wash your toes and wash your underarms.

The 2019 Pacific Games will be played from the 7th to the 20th of next month.
