Marist lands first gold at Fiji Finals

Iowane Qalovi of Marist Brothers High School has won the school’s first gold medal

Iowane Qalovi of Marist Brothers High School has won the school’s first gold medal at the Coca-Cola Games underway at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.

Qalovi made a throw of 14.06 metres to finish first in the Junior Boys Shot Put event.

Temo Diloi of CMF settled with silver while Eroni Nabulagi of Queen Victoria School bagged bronze.

Senirewa Cakacaka of Suva Grammar School has bagged the school’s second gold medal at Day 2 of the Games after finishing first in the Sub Junior Girls Discus.

Cakacaka made a throw of 23.76 metres, Joy Wise of Adi Cakobau School while Faith Kukusei of Jasper Williams High School.

In the Girl’s 3000-meter race, Loraini Maramaniwaidalice won the first Gold for Tailevu North College at Day 2 of the competition.

Defending girls champion Adi Cakobau School is still leading with two gold and five silver.

St Joseph Secondary School is second with one and three bronze while SGS, Xavier College, Nuku Secondary School and Levuka Public School have a gold each.

In the boy’s division, Tavua College is leading with two gold. RKS is in second place with one gold and a silver,

Nadogo Secondary School from Macuata is in third place with one gold and one bronze.

Meanwhile, the 200 metre heats are currently underway.

48 gold medals are on offer today, with the highlight being the 100m finals.

There will also be the 400m and 800 metres finals.
