Lockington breaks record, as Marist and St Joseph lead

Shawntell Lockington of Xavier College has set a new record in the Senior Girls High Jump at the Coca-Cola Games underway at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.

Lockington broke a nine-year-old record which was set by Diama Maramanikaibau of SGS in 2010 with a jump of 1.68m.

Maramanikaibau’s record stood at 1.65m.

Shawntell’s younger sister Lisa also walked away with gold in the Junior Girls High Jump yesterday.

Tuliana Taitinai of Jasper won silver while Josifini Mafi of SGS won bronze in the Senior Girls High Jump.

Meanwhile, Marist Brothers High School has taken the lead in the boy’s division, with two gold, seven silver and three bronze.

Their latest medal came from Christian Taukei who won the Sub-Junior boys Shot Put.

Josefo Galovi of MBHS won silver and Jeremiah Vukivanua of Suva Grammar won bronze.

In the girls, Saint Joseph Secondary has taken the lead after Avelina Navue won gold in the Intermediate Girls long jump.

Mereseini Waqatoki of Suva Grammar came in second while Vasanai Bui of Dudley High School finished in third place.

ACS is in second place with two gold and four silver and one bronze.

Jasper Williams is third with two gold, one silver, and one bronze.
