Karan ready for Fiji duties, no word yet from Athletics Fiji

Yeshnil Karan of Tavua College is hoping his win in the 1500m and 3000m event will be able to make his dream of making it to Pacific Games come true.

Karan says he always watched students participate in the Fiji Finals for the past years, winning today has brought him a step closer to achieving his dream.

“I have always dreamed of playing in the South Pacific Games amongst international athletes and I cannot believe I won Gold both in the 1500m and 3000m race. This is a big achievement not only for me but for my school at Tavua College. I really hope to pursue this career path in the future.”

Karan’s Coach Praneel Kumar says he never expected Yeshnil to cause an upset and take Gold for Tavua.

Kumar says this is a major achievement for the School and it’s one that should be celebrated.

Yeshnil Karan upset MBHS’s Petero Veitaqomaki in the 1500m senior boys yesterday and again win the 3000m event.

Looking at the FBC Medal Tally, ACS still leading the girl’s division with two gold and five silver, Jasper is second with two gold and two bronze while Suva Grammar is currently third with one gold and three silver.

In the boy’s division, RKS is still leading with two gold and a silver, Tavua College is second with two gold while Marist Brothers High School is third with one gold four silver and four bronze medals.

48 gold medals are on offer today, with the highlight being the 100m finals.

There will also be the 400m and 800 metres finals.
