Karan beats national rep Veitaqomaki

Yeshnil Karan of Tavua College created the major upset of day 1 in the senior boys 1500 metres where he defeated national rep Petero Veitaqomaki of Marist Brothers High School to win gold.

Karan clocked a time of 4:09:03sec to win the race.

The 18-year-old was outside the record set by Inia Sili of Shree Guru Nanak in 2013 in a time of 4:07:53sec.

Meanwhile,Vilimoni Susunikoro of Ratu Kadavulevu School has broken the first record on Day 1 of the 2019 Coca Cola Games.

Susunikoro set a new record in the Junior Boys Javelin with a throw of 50.52 metres.

The 15-year-old slashed the old record of 47.63 metres set by Simione Koliloa of Saint Johns College in 2017.
