Described as a hardworking and humble boy – Vilivo Whippy’s mother Seravina Whippy says having her son bring home two gold medals was an early Christmas gift.

When he came to rest I was just telling him, because he has been winning medals especially the gold medals after for the last three years. So this year I pushed him in the 200 meters but we fell short and I told him in the 400 meters you haven’t done the 200 meters so try this event.

Seravina Whippy who is a Math teacher at Balentine Memorial School says she is satisfied with Vilivo’s school work and his sporting achievements.

Vilivo he’s a very humble boy. He just listens and he loves to listen to music and play on his own remix songs, that’s what he does.

The shy 13-year-old says the most challenging thing for him was being away from his friends.

I was trying to just get away from them and just eat somewhere else.

Whippy won gold in the 400 meters and 4 x 4 events at the Chow games yesterday which helped the Suva team win the overall chow games.
