8 Athletes head to Oceania Championship

8 Athletes who had qualified for the Pacific Games under the A qualifying standards will be heading out to the Oceania Championship in Townsville, Australia next week.

This was confirmed by Athletics Fiji’s Sectional Manager, Joseph Rodan Junior.

These 8 athletes are Banuve Tabakaucoro, Malaki Kaiwalu, Shontell Lockington, Kameli Sauduadua, Petero Veitaqomaki, Mustafa Fall, Ana Kaloucava and Vilimaina Naituku.

Rodan Junior says that following the competitions in Australia, these athletes will return to Fiji to take part in the Oceania Permit Meet in Lautoka after two weeks.

He says this is also a World Championship qualifier.

“They are under the guidance of their coaches, we have sessions going on at 5.30am in the morning and in the afternoons at 5.30pm to 7pm. Normally we leave all that to the coaches but we have been turning up watching them do their stuff for their preparations“.
