Athletics meet to encourage responsibility

November 18, 2015 5:35 pm

Organizers of the FMF Chow Games are using the meet to build students into responsible citizens.

Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association secretary, Patrick Bower says for the first time ever, ‘environmental officers’ have been selected from various schools to patrol the ANZ Stadium venue during the two-day competition this weekend, to display the proper disposal of rubbish to fellow students as well as members of the public.

“Sports is holistic as well as education being holistic. It’s a critical part in the development of the child. If we’re not going to put in these correct measures at this level, some of those bad habits will breed into our athletes and will be their downfall in tomorrow.”
