“Over time in the past, athletes have had to put out money to pay for their own levies to represent their country. So when the executives came in in 2014, the current batch of executives, they made it their business that athletes didn’t pay their levy. That was something that was the responsibility of the federation and the Manager and the Manageress are the people who normally take on board the responsibility of the team.”

Meanwhile 8 Athletes who had qualified for the Pacific Games under the A qualifying standards will be heading out to the Oceania Championship in Townsville, Australia next week.

These 8 athletes are Banuve Tabakaucoro, Malaki Kaiwalu, Shontell Lockington, Kameli Sauduadua, Petero Veitaqomaki, Mustafa Fall, Ana Kaloucava and Vilimaina Naituku.

Rodan Junior says that following the competitions in Australia, these athletes will return to Fiji to take part in the Oceania Permit Meet in Lautoka after two weeks.

He says this is also a World Championship qualifier.
