Around 300 Team Fiji athletes to the Pacific Games turned up for their last medical screening held at the Fiji Olympic House.

Commission Chair Doctor Jone Nasome said the screening was not only to check on how athletes and officials are in terms of health from their first medical last year but also an opportunity for physiotherapists and doctors to get to know the team.

Dr Nasome says that during the Games many athletes required the services of physiotherapists and doctors which was why it was important to get to know them and to ready themselves when and if they are required.

He adds that the Medical Team can now identify athletes and the issues they are likely to face should their services be required.

He also says they did not want to rule out any official or athlete that is travelling to the Games at this time and the Medical Team has also asked all Section Managers to read up on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List which is updated annually.
