An ideal pathway for local players-Civoniceva

An exciting future looms for Rugby League in Fiji after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Fiji National Rugby League and the Fiji New South Wales Team yesterday.

This will ensure that Fiji will have a local team in the New South Wales Cup by 2019.

Bidding team chair, Petero Civoniceva says this will provide an opportunity for an ideal pathway for the local players.

“And hopefully the plan is to lose some local players to overseas contracts. If those boys are fortunate enough to secure a contract that opens up another spot here locally for another player so there’s plenty of incentive here and this is a very viable very real development pathway for our local players.”

The two parties will sit with the government and other stakeholders in the next few days to gather more support to prepare a for the 2019 New South Wales Cup.
