The Vodafone Fiji Under-20 football side was given a taste of professional football as the team went down 3-0 to Amicale of Vanuatu in the OFC President’s Cup in New Zealand last night.
The Fijian juniors who are preparing for the 2015 World Cup, played a gallant game despite being on the losing side.
Fiji had chances in the match, which they failed to take and this is an area which the coaching staff say they will be working on.
Fijian coach Ravinesh Kumar says they were happy to have played a team like Amicale, which is laced with professionals.
He adds the tournament is a learning curve and the side will be made to work on the mistakes committed to better their game.
Fiji takes on Bahrain’s Busaiteen club on Friday at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, in another match played, Auckland City of New Zealand thumped the Singapore Under-23, 4-0.
