Fijian players, who will be taking part in the Australia Fiji Football Association Inter District Championships starting in Sydney today, have more than the title to play for.
This as selectors will be scouting for players to form the Australia Fijian side, which will play the Fiji Under-20 side in a fortnight.
The tournament will also be used to identify potential trialists for the Fiji U20 side, with a number of outstanding youngsters taking part.
Fiji Football Association’s liaison officer in Australia, Bob Nair, says they are playing a major part in the development of football for the Fijian community.
The finals of the AFFA IDC will be played on Sunday, before which Westfield Women’ League game between Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers will be played as the curtain raiser.
