The Digicel Fiji 7s rugby team is on the verge of wrapping up preparations before departing for Dubai and South Africa on Wednesday.*

Following their upset win at the opening IRB World Sevens Series tournament in Gold Coast last month, the side wants to keep the momentum.

Assistant coach Timoci Wainiqolo says despite having seven new players in the side, they are ready to win the crown for the first time in the deserts of the Arab state.

“The boys are looking confident and they are looking forward to the tournament. The venue may be new but rugby isn’t and that’s the one thing they’ll know how to do when in Dubai.”

Fiji is pooled with Kenya, Scotland and Spain for the Dubai 7s and the first match is against Spain at 6.50pm on Friday week.
