7's game has changed-Kolinisau

The game of 7’s rugby is not the same as it was a decade ago.

These are the words of Vodafone Fiji 7’s captain, Osea Kolinisau.

Speaking on FBC TV’s Vodafone Sports Lounge show last week, Kolinisau says, there is a lot of much competition in the game today that no team can be taken lightly.

“7’s is not like what it was ten years ago where you have the tier one nations as Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa as powerhouses. That time we used to rest good players during pool games and use them during knock out competition. It’s getting really hard now. You can’t even look ahead of the team you are facing. We saw USA knocking out New Zealand three times when the series started and Canada also knocked New Zealand out. So it just shows that the series has jumped up another level.”

The Fiji 7’s team moves back into camp this week to prepare for the Las Vegas and Vancouver legs of the World Sevens Series.

Fiji is pooled with Argentina, Samoa and France for the tournament in USA that will be played from the 5th to the 7th of next month.
