Utility Semi Kunatani started his career playing rugby for the Yamacia 7’s side and was selected by Ben Ryan to represent the Vodafone Fiji Sevens in Dubai 2013.
Now, three years later, the 25 year old is one of the top bets to be named in Ryan’s final squad for the Olympic Games next month.
It every player’s dream to play at the Olympic Games and Semi Kunatani is no different.
A nominee for the 2014/2015 World Sevens series player of the year, he knows it will take some hard work getting there.
All the boys in the squad are trying their best to win a spot to the Olympics. No one is relaxing at the moment and they’re all making sacrifices to be selected. Before I left France, my weight was 104kg and now I am 102kg which is a good sign and I am thankful that I can recover my speed again.
Kunatani has scored 59 tries in 88 matches in the World Sevens Series.
Meanwhile, Ryan names his final team this Saturday.
