The Lautoka hockey season gets underway this weekend with a five-a-side tournament.

Lautoka hockey official, Fergus Underwood says the competition will be a build up for teams ahead of the Inter-club tournament in Suva later this year.

“Basically Hockey has been under ground for the three plus years so coming from last year and the build-up this year we’ve decided that to start our hockey for the year to hold a five aside competition.”

Invitations have been sent to clubs in Nadi and Ba to be part of the competition and help improve the standard of competition in the western division.

Ten teams are expected to compete at the five-a-side competition, which starts at 9am on Saturday at the Nadovu Hockey Grounds.
