3-0 win record will certainly give us faith to get the job done: Queensland Country

Queensland Country is confident they can stop the invincible Fiji Airways Drua in the National Rugby Championship final in the weekend.

Country is the only team to beat the Drua this year, a 51-27 win in round three and in fact they have never lost to Fiji since the Pacific Islanders entered the competition last year.

Captain Duncan Paia’aua says the Drua’s unpredictable style will be tricky to overcome but they are coming prepared.

He says their 3-0 win record will certainly give them faith they can get the job done this weekend.

“There’s a lot of hype with the boys not much changing. The boys are having fun in training and working hard and hopefully get a win. It’s going to be a very big crowd over there and they’re going to have a lot of support base behind them but the boys did the job against them over there last year and hopefully we can take some confidence into that.”

The defending champions won both the sides’ match ups last season, including a 24-17 win in Lautoka last year, the same venue where they will contest the title on Saturday.

Country head to Fiji on Friday to meet the Drua at 3pm Saturday at Churchill Park.
