27 schools part of Chow Games

Twenty-seven athletes from Wallis and Futuna are part of the 2018 FMF Chow Games which started yesterday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

They are among 13 local teams competing in the two-day event.

Team Manager Yann Likuvalu says competing for the first time in Fiji is an eye opener for team Wallis and Futuna.

“We’re very happy to participate at the Chow Games and it’s our first time in Fiji and it’s very huge for our athletes, they nervous but they tried to perform.
Wallis and Futuna is currently ninth place with two silver medals.”

Meanwhile, the Lautoka athletics team leads the overall medal tally for the 2018 FMF Chow Games with 8 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze after day one of the competition.

Nadroga/Navosa is currently in second place with 5 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze followed by Ra with 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Suva is fourth with 4 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze while Suva One has 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medal.

The competition continues today ANZ Stadium.
