24 out of the 32 teams remain in contention for this year’s Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal Soccer League, following the first round of elimination games at the National Hockey Centre at Laucala Bay on Tuesday evening.
Tournament organizer Alan Kumar of Bula Events Group said, we are now in the elimination rounds and the games will continue for the next four weeks before we have a winner.
Kumar added, the tournament will see a new champion emerge, as defending champions, Fiji Sun are out of contention, with some big teams as well.
“With the level of participation from teams, respective management and fans, I can say this has been the best Futsal league to have ever taken place in the capital city,” Kumar said.
Last year’s runners up Intergroup Electrical had a tough match against, new comers UB Freight, as they had to come from behind and win the match in Penalty Kicks.
“The games of Tuesday evening were the best so far as top performing teams faced each other and altogether three games were decided on penalty kicks’, Kumar added.
The windy and cold Suva weather saw, the best part of the night, when Sponsors distributed Ovaltine to players and officials.
This is one of the biggest Futsal league ever as 32 teams competed, with the theme – “FIGHT AGAINST NCD.
