Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee had marked 2016 as one of its successful year.

FASANOC Chief Executive Loraine Mar says it was a milestone year for the parent body as they claimed the first gold medal in the Olympic Games in August.

Mar says they would like to thank Team Fiji 7s rugby team, coach and other officials for the achievement.

She added as for the other athletes, they all performed up to the standard as majority of them qualified on merit for the Games.

FASANOC has already mapped out the plans for year 2017, where they will send Team Fiji to Commonwealth Games, Asian Indoor Martial Arts and Pacific Mini Games in December.
