Attorney General and Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has announced an allocation of $2.3 million to fund the hosting of Fiji’s first Investec Super Rugby match in 2016.

The match between the Chiefs and the Crusaders will take place at ANZ Stadium in Suva on July 1st and forms part of the fixture for the regular 2016 season.

This is only the second match to be played outside of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with the only other match being played at Twickenham in 2011.

Fortress Information Systems Limited (‘Fortress’), is the promoter of the match and are not new to the local scene after bringing the New Zealand Maori team to our shores to play against the Vodafone Flying Fijians earlier this year.

Fortress CEO and founder, Mathew Davey says hosting the match in Fiji is a credit to the innovation between the Government, Fiji Sports Council, the Chiefs, Crusaders, New Zealand Rugby, New Zealand Rugby Players Association, SANZAR, and Sky TV in showcasing the country alongside the best rugby competition in the world.
