Youth Olympic Silver Medallist Chang Ho Kim is hoping to win Gold for Fiji in the Melbourne Oceania Badminton Championship.
The 17-year old says this competition will set the platform for him to take on bigger rivals later in the Pacific Games.
“The main challenge would be competing against Australia and New Zealand they’re very tough and they have very good players. But I’ll try and play smart to outclass them.”
Team Manager Donald Wilson says the players aren’t just playing for Medal prospects, rather they are focusing on the Pacific Games as well.
“Everyone aims to get a medal and we’re playing to get a medal but in addition to that since we have the Pacific Games coming up in July, I guess one of the other aims that we have is just making sure we play our best so we can improve our rankings.”
The week-long tournament will start tomorrow.
