144 athletes to represent Fiji to the Commonwealth

Team Fiji is expected to take 144 athletes to compete in the 12 sports at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia.

The team will be made up of 45 male and 53 female athletes who will take part in athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, boxing, lawn bowls, netball, rugby, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting.

Chef de mission, Patrick Bower, says this will be a great experience for our athletes as they will compete against their opponents from other sixty-nine commonwealth countries.

“I know the athletes are very much looking forward to the Games because it is going to be a great experience. Having said before it’s a great competition and there’s a lot of athletes from various cultures and so many countries around the world. ”

Bower adds Olympians Winston Hill, Seremaia Tuwai, Matelita Buadromo, Sally Yee and Manueli Tulo are expected to be part of Team Fiji.
The Commonwealth Games runs through the 4th to the 15th of April.
