Youth Forum launched in Lautoka

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa yesterday opened the Youth Speak Forum at the University of Fiji in Saweni, Lautoka.

With the theme ‘Empowering Youth from Decisions to Actions’, Vuniwaqa says it is important for youths to understand the need to promote sustainable Development and build a more knowledge-based society.

She says youths have a role to play in the fight against extreme poverty, along with socioeconomic inequality and corruption.

Vuniwaqa added the youth today also needed to become responsible environment stewards.

The Fiji Youth Speak Forum 2018 aims to motivate and engage Pacific youth in meaningful discussions and support them to take concrete actions in fighting climate change and sustaining aquatic life.

The Forum was organized by the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF).
