Cabinet has approved Fiji’s Youth Development Index 2014 that measures the status of young people in five key areas.
These domains are education, health, employment, civic education and political participation.
Permanent Secretary for Youth, Josefa Sania says youth development index will greatly assist the ministry and policy-makers in identifying areas for investment that will ensure the young people in Fiji fulfil their potential.
Minister for Youth, Viliame Naupoto who tabled a paper in Cabinet says he believes this is the first of such document to be produced in Fiji and a first that exclusively covers our young people.
He says he hopes as a ministry that the document will influence all stakeholders involved in youth work in Fiji and especially policy and decision makers.
