Yaqona farmers to be members of KKF Association

In an effort to boost kava development on Kadavu, all Yaqona farmers within the island will be members of the Kadavu Kava Farmers Association.

This is expected to enhance farmers to better utilize their land.

Roko Tui Kadavu, Kitione Raibevu has confirmed that plans are in place where kava will be pounded and packed from Kadavu before selling locally and internationally as well.

Raibevu says the Agriculture ministry has also joined in, to assist these farmers.

“We were so fortunate that the government that the government through the Agriculture ministry has been funding the Kadavu Kava Farmers Association through equipment ,punts for awareness program and for the purchasing of the pounding machine for the kava not forgetting the materials for packing shed.”

The issue has been part of discussions during the first day of the Kadavu Provincial Council meeting at Tavuki village.
