Workshop on Biological Weapons in Nadi

Threats posed by biological weapons are real says Defence and National Security Permanent Secretary, Osea Cawaru.

Cawaru made these comments while speaking to participants attending the Regional Biological Weapons Convention Workshop in Nadi.

He adds the main purpose of the workshop is to promote the global benchmark of the convention.

The PS says the promotion of the convention would only be possible through a unified effort at all levels of decision making.

Biological weapon, also called germ weapons, is the use of biological toxins or infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses and fungi with the intent to kill or harm humans, animals or plants as an act of war.

The workshop ends tomorrow.
