The Fiji Roads Authority has called for tenders to engage a Geo-Tech consultant to determine the ground and soil texture of the Tamavua-I-Wai Bridge.

This is to determine whether the bridge can be expanded to a four lane road entering into Lami Town.

Chief Financial Officer, Robert Sen says this decision was made to address the growing number of vehicles travelling from Lami and the western division into Suva.

“At this stage FRA has done some preliminary studies on the ground works and also the bridge. At this moment it is in the procurement stage on the bridge. We have seen the forecast of how the traffic movement is and definitely we will be looking at a four-lane bridge.”

Sen says a great number of interest has generated for the tender that was issued.
