The Minister for Defence and National Security Inia Seruiratu says Police should be credited for the increase in drug raids.

Seruiratu highlighted this to FBC News stressing that illegal drugs continue to be of most serious concern for Fiji.

“Increase in the number of crimes related to Drugs is also an indication of the work that they are doing and they need to be congratulated for the work that they are doing but however the challengers is always there”

The Minister also stressed that as we go into the festive season, drug paddlers will also increase activities and thus people need to report cases to police.

Seruiratu stresses the need for people to help in curbing the problem of drugs.

He says that fighting illegal drugs is a whole of government approach and people also have a part to play and that is reporting issues of drugs to responsible authorities.
