Motorists and commuters will have to put up with traffic jams caused by the closed bridges at Vatuwaqa and at Stinson Parade in Suva – a little while longer.
Both bridges have now been closed for almost a fortnight, but according to Fiji Roads Authority Change Manager Mike Rudge maintenance works haven’t even begun.
Since we’ve closed the bridges – in terms of maintenance – there hasn’t been a lot done. What we are doing now is really spending our time investigating what the options are for both opening up the temporary options and what the long term options are. Sometimes there’s a relationship – the permanent option may make it harder to build the temporary option.
The final decision on the types of work to be carried out will be decided by the Fiji Roads Authority Board.
