Women to discuss challenges and issues at Ministerial forum

March 6, 2019 1:33 pm

Fiji at a national, regional and international level has done a lot of work to empower women says Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa.

This is evident in the tremendous work carried out by Women’s NGO’s, Civil Society Organisations, Faith Based Organisations and members of national women’s groups.

Speaking at a Ministerial Forum in Lami today, Vuniwaqa reveals the government speaks of these work at all levels.

“I am also sure that none of us can confidently say that we have covered everything that everyone is doing or has done for Fijian women because the work being done is massive. There’s still a lot to do. And I am sure that you will all agree with me that with whatever we are doing, there will always be more that we can still do more.”

Vuniwaqa says the forum aims to discuss challenges and issues faced by women.

She says it’s important for all stakeholders to work together to meet the needs of women at the grassroots level and raise their status.

The initiative is a lead up to the International Women’s Day this Friday.
