Women pleads not guilty for allegedly aiding escapee

A stop departure has been placed against two women who allegedly assisted Deshwar Dutt to escape from lawful custody.

Dutt’s wife 32-year- old Shivani Vikashni Sami and his lawyer Adi Litia Vereivalu Vateitei charged with one count of aiding a prisoner to escape were produced in a special court sitting yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged that between 1st February 2017 and 15th December 2017, the two aided Deshwar Kishore Dutt to escape from lawful custody.

Divisional Prosecuting officer SSP Anil Kumar objected to their bail application however the two have been released on $1000 bail each with surety in the same amount.

Sami has been ordered to report to the Nausori Police station every Wednesday and Friday while Vateitei has been ordered to report at the Nadi Police station on every Wednesday and Friday.

They have been ordered not to come into contact with Dutt and not to
re-offend.

The matter will be re-called on 12th February.

Meanwhile, Dutt escaped from the Nadi Magistrates court two weeks ago
