The Ministry for Women and Children has revealed that many women in rural areas still face difficulties in trying to earn money after receiving sewing machines.
Minister responsible, Mereseini Vuniwaqa says after giving out these equipment, they expect women to start earning a living for their family.
“The aim is that they would generate income and would be able to enhance or develop further the business they already have. And that’s something that we find that is a challenge for women, and it’s something that we want to assist them in.”
Vuniwaqa says they are also looking at introducing financial literacy to these women which will be a huge advantage.
She adds they will have to work with the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding this initiative.
