A thirty-three-year-old woman convicted of five counts of obtaining financial advantage by deception, has been sentenced to twenty-six months imprisonment.
Zinaz Buksh appeared before the Suva Magistrates Court today.
Buksh who was a former Director of Star Agencies Global Migration and Travel Services, dishonestly obtained more than six thousand dollars from one Sabid Shah and Amelia Virivirilau.
Buksh promised them that she was in a position to arrange their work visa to Australia, but failed to do so.
The offences occurred between the 18th December, 2013 and 22nd October, 2014.
Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage while sentencing Buksh said her sentence cannot be suspended, because she did not make any attempt to return the money to the complainants before the case was filed.
She has been given a non-parole sentence of twenty months.
