A woman in her 30s passed away after she was allegedly hit by a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man at Kanace Road in Valelevu yesterday.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the man was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Naisoro says the victim was walking with two others when it is alleged that the suspect lost control of the vehicle and ran into the three who were on the side of the road.

She says the victim was rushed to the CWM hospital where she was pronounced dead, another woman is admitted at the Intensive Care Unit while the third one is admitted at the Observation Ward.

The suspect was tested and found to be in excess of the prescribed limit and remains in custody at the Valelevu Police Station.

Investigations continue.
