What is happening to parental responsibility?: Akbar

Some parents are failing their duties towards children.

This is the concern raised by Education Minister Rosy Akbar while officiating at the Early Childhood Week celebrations yesterday.

With the increasing report of child abuse, sexual harassment, and rape, the Minister is urging parents to uphold their responsibility in ensuring the safety of their children.

As an example, Akbar has questioned why children are being used to sell food on the streets late at night.

“I was actually saddened and I got really shocked. At 10.30pm, children as young as seven or eight and there was a little boy there, no food and roaming around. Can you imagine the number of children out there on our street? The question is, what is happening to parental responsibility? Why are we parents failing in our duty?”

The Education Minister is urging parents to prioritize the safety of their children and not to let them wander at night.
