December 23, 2015 4:40 am

The weatherman says it will be a wet and humid Christmas for the Central, Eastern and Northern divisions as the trough of low pressure brings in a rotating rain band that will persist till the weekend.

This also comes as the as the heavy rain warning issued for the whole of Fiji has been cancelled.

Director of Meteorology Ravin Kumar says that while the heavy rain warning for the Fiji Group has been lifted, it may still be gloomy Christmas in as far as the weather is concerned for the three divisions this weekend.

’’The Heavy rain alert issued for the Mamnuca and Yasawa group of islands and the rest of Viti Levu, Kadavu and other islands has been cancelled. For the next few days we expect more rain especially in the eastern parts of Fiji and the north. This as the south east winds continue to prevail and persist. So we are also just informing members of the public to be more aware of the situation and take heed of the weather updates as we look to the Christmas weekend".

Kumar has also thrown caution for those traveling to maritime regions to closely monitor weather reports and keep themselves updated on the conditions around them.

He says the relieving rains over the past few days in the western division has been a welcome relief to the prolonged dry spell over the past 16 months.
