West water cartage on hold

Water carting to areas affected by a lack of rain has been put on hold.
Heavy rain is being experienced in most of the Western Division, easing the situation to some extent.
Divisional Planning Officer West Sitiveni Tavaga says this is relief for places which have not seen rain for more than five months.
Tavaga is encouraging people in the Western division to save rain water for their daily needs, while authorities look after maritime areas which are still pretty dry.
“We still continue with the carting of water to the Yasawa’s although there have been raining in the Yasawa’s but still needed rain to fill tanks and the wells or the sources of water available in the Yasawa’s. The government barge the Vunilagi is still in the Yasawa’s today delivering water.”
The Divisional Planning Office West will continue to provide water tanks in affected areas to assist farmers whose produce may be affected by a lack of rain.
