Weight restrictions in Kasavu relaxed

The weight restriction at the Kasavu/Baulevu junction on Kings Road has been lifted to five tonnes.

The limitation was put in after a landslide at the location but there has been no recent movement detected.

However, the Fiji Roads Authority says the site is extremely risky and should be crossed with all care and avoided altogether if possible.

The FRA is only allowing one vehicle to pass at a time.

This is expected to cause traffic delays and is preventing the delivery of other heavy goods and services, including bus passenger services.

The FRA is urging motorists to allow extra travel time.

Contractors meanwhile have begun carrying out pothole repairs.

Vunidawa Bridge in Naqali is now open to traffic.
