A week-long training on Gender Based violence and Human Rights is underway in Nadi for those in the Civil Service.
This is the first ever training organized by the Fiji Women’s Crisis Center for those in the government officials in the executive level.
FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali says this is to ensure that leaders within the Civil Service know and understand the causes of domestic violence and how to respond to such matters
“We looking at power dynamics and the patriotacle society and women’s position within that society which contributes to the violence which is perpetrated against them.”
The participants were reminded that the statistics on violence against women and girls in Fiji do not lie.
More than 40 participants have gathered for the workshop which ends on Friday.
