Week long events to mark Fiji-UN Peacekeeping history

Fiji will be commemorating its participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations with numerous events from next week.

Ministry of Defence and National Security Permanent Security, Osea Cawaru in explaining the week long program noted that peacekeeping has played an integral role in Fiji’s development.

Fiji has been participating in peacekeeping operations since June 10, 1978.

Cawaru highlighted that peacekeeping has also played an important role in leveraging Fiji’s relations with its strategic partners and has assisted greatly in securing technical and development cooperation for Fiji’s security forces as well as other areas of mutual interest.

The week-long program will be launched this Sunday, with a Church service at Suva’s Centenary Church.
