The public may be fans of the infamous Azonto driver – Ritesh Kumar but he will be penalised says the Land Transport Authority.

Authority chief executive – Naisa Tuinaceva maintains that the public perception of the situation should change as safety was compromised on that trip.

Tuinaceva says the driver was wrong and will be taken to task regardless of what people think.

I know there have been some discussions on the issue. People are saying that they felt the driver was just having fun. But what if an accident happened? We would have been talking the other way round. We plead with the public that drivers can never be part of an activity which compromises safety.

The LTA is now advising all public service drivers to uphold the law for the safety of the public.
