We welcome China’s influence in the Pacific: Peters

New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Winston Peters says they welcome China’s influence in the Pacific.

In a press conference, Peters says this is if it’s in the interest of the local people, and the interest of security and economic development in the region.

“We welcome the influence of any country that is seeking to ensure there is a positive outcome and in favor of the local people first.”

Peters says they know that there are countries that can help immensely in the Pacific and their job is to provide the leadership, direction, and confidence in joining and partnering with them.

He says they will get the job done that will have enduring results.

Meanwhile, he welcomed Fiji’s attendance to the Pacific Island Forum in Tuvalu.
