Minister for Agriculture Inia Seruiratu is adamant that vacancies in his ministry as well as others need to be filled with people who can do the job.

Seruiratu, in support of the 2016 budget, says it is important to have the right people to maximize performance.

He adds they want to localize appointments but cannot compromise on standards.

“If we want people and the ministries to deliver then we must have the right people in the right job so that they can perform. And that we need to understand, of course we want to localize appointments but of course we cannot compromise standards.”

Seruiratu adds there is a significant investment in infrastructure, agriculture, housing, health, water and energy.
